Live and Work – Young Women’s Employment Support

Loconomy is proud to be part of an innovative new partnership with St Basil’s, supported by The JABBS Foundation for Women and Girls. Together, we are creating opportunities for young women in Birmingham to gain stability, skills and confidence as they take their first steps into independent living and employment.

Programme Overview

This 12-month project focuses on residents of St Basil’s new Live and Work scheme in Birmingham, which provides very low-cost housing for young people aged 18–25. With JABBS funding, Loconomy will deliver an enhanced support offer tailored to young women, including careers advice, employment opportunities and confidence-building activities such as digital skills, creative arts and active living. Working alongside St Basil’s on-site team, this programme aims to strengthen career and housing pathways while an independent evaluation captures the impact across wellbeing and employment outcomes.

Our Role & Expected Impact

Loconomy will focus on the employment and skills strand of the programme, complementing the housing and wellbeing support already provided by St Basil’s. By offering tailored careers advice, skills development and confidence-building opportunities, we aim to improve life chances and create sustainable pathways into work and independent living for young women in Birmingham.

We’ll share updates and outcomes here as the programme develops.
