Druids Heath Independent Resident and Community Advice

Loconomy has worked in Druids Heath since October 2023 as an independent resident and community adviser, helping local people participate in and influence the regeneration of their neighbourhood.

Building on the first stage of this work, Loconomy has been appointed to provide the Independent Resident and Community Advice Service for the Druids Heath Regeneration from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2028. Our extended role combines support for the Resident Steering Group with free, independent advice for residents affected by the regeneration.

Programme Overview

During the first stage of the programme, we supported workshops that helped to develop the Druids Heath Community Charter, attended resident and community drop-in sessions, hosted a Community Fun and Engagement Day, and recruited and facilitated the Druids Heath Resident Steering Group.

The Resident Steering Group provides an important way for residents to contribute to the regeneration. We support its members to understand proposals, identify the issues they want to discuss, raise questions with Birmingham City Council and its regeneration partners, and follow up the actions that result.

The extension of our work adds an independent advice service for individual residents and groups of residents. This helps local people access clear information, understand their rights and options, and make informed decisions as the regeneration progresses.

Supporting the Resident Steering Group

Loconomy provides independent support and facilitation for the Druids Heath Resident Steering Group.

Our role includes:

  • Supporting and facilitating Steering Group meetings

  • Working with residents to develop agendas and identify priorities

  • Helping members understand and scrutinise regeneration proposals

  • Supporting residents to raise questions with Birmingham City Council and its partners

  • Developing the knowledge, confidence and leadership of Steering Group members

  • Supporting communication between the Steering Group and the wider community

  • Tracking residents’ questions and agreed actions so that progress can be followed

Independent Advice for Residents

Residents affected by the regeneration can now access free and independent advice from Loconomy.

We can provide information and support about:

The regeneration and what it could mean for individual residents

Rehousing and moving arrangements

Compensation and associated payments

Tenant and resident rights

The right to return and future housing options

Options for homeowners and leaseholders

Other individual questions or concerns arising from the regeneration

Support for people with additional needs or vulnerabilities

Working Independently for Residents

Regeneration can be complex and may create uncertainty for residents. Loconomy’s role is to provide impartial support focused on residents’ needs, questions and concerns.

Alongside individual advice, we will continue helping residents to have a collective voice through the Resident Steering Group and wider community engagement.
