Coalition for Impact
Coalition for Impact was an action learning and collaborative inquiry delivered in East Birmingham, as part of Birmingham City Council’s Shared Prosperity Fund Community Pillar in 2024/25. Nine community organisations (COs) worked in small groups of three in three growth quarters (Sports, Green Innovation, and Knowledge), conducting detailed community economic mapping of their areas, followed by individual Investable Propositions on growing local assets and capacity. This was complemented by an inquiry into women-led economy by four COs from the 2023/24 programme, research into capacity building and providing tailored business support for each organisation.

Programme Overview
The Coalition for Impact community organisations include:
Green Innovation Quarter
Knowledge Quarter
The programme ran over nine months, starting from September 2024 and running until April 2025 and included four Collaborative Learning events, a Look and see visit for each of the Quarters, eighteen community meetings and an end of programme conference. Working in each Quarter, the COs produced a detailed set of community economic maps from which they each developed an Investable Proposition that had the potential to enable COs to access sustainable funding.
In addition, each CO, including the R2L cohort, were able to access a package of tailored support on business viability and governance from a commissioned expert provider. In addition, a thematic inquiry into women-led economies was commissioned, led by four COs from the 2023/24 programme.
Finally, a bespoke social research project was undertaken, which reviewed the impact of capacity building community organisations and the role this can play in supporting inclusive growth. The programme delivered a comprehensive set of community economic maps, a vision and strategic appraisal of each Quarter’s potential for collaboratively fuelled inclusive growth and ten Investable Propositions with all COs accessing learning, development, and support. As with R2L, all work has been published on the bespoke Learning Platform: coalition4Impact.org.uk
